The Saddle Inn: A 3-star rock-themed hotel in central Chester with live music and themed rooms

Amenities & Entertainment

The Saddle Inn operates the only rock-themed hotel in Europe that supports live music events. Guests can attend open mic nights, karaoke sessions, and live performances directly in the bar. The hotel also has a pool table, a jukebox, and an outdoor seating area with TVs.

Rooms & Accommodations

The hotel offers rock band-themed rooms such as the Slayer room with drums as bedside tables and the AC/DC room. Family rooms like the Megadeth room include two full-size single beds and a double bed. Rooms have private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and soundproofing.

Dining

The on-site restaurant serves British cuisine with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Breakfast is an à la carte choice including full English, Irish, and vegetarian selections. Bar food includes burgers that require a knife and fork and a Hungarian-themed menu.

Pet-Friendly Stays

The hotel provides pet bowls and allows dogs in guest rooms. Reviews mention that the owner's French bulldogs are often present in the bar. The hotel offers free parking nearby and luggage storage for arriving guests.

Location

The Saddle Inn is located within 700 meters of Chester Racecourse and a 5-minute walk from the city center shops and restaurants. Guests can access Chester Zoo, located 6 km away, and Liverpool John Lennon Airport 41 km away. The hotel has a designated smoking area and offers room service.

Highlights

Rooms: Rock band-themed rooms with drums as bedside tables

Music: Open mic nights, karaoke, live performances

Dining: À la carte breakfast, Hungarian-themed menu

Pet Policy: Dog-friendly with pet bowls

Location: 5-minute walk to city center, 700 m from racecourse

“What strikes me is its unapologetic devotion to rock music, a theme that reverberates from the decor-replica guitars and music memorabilia-to its support of live events, a commitment underscored by its on-site tattoo studio, a bold statement of community and personal expression. I think the à la carte breakfast, with choices like eggs benedict, is worth waking up for, setting the tone for a day exploring Chester, which, being just a short walk away, makes it very convenient. It's a surprisingly engaging place, this inn, not just a stay but an experience.”

Decent Location, Disappointing Room Condition

cracked tiles loud music
The location is excellent for getting around. (It really made exploring convenient.)
The room showed its age with some clear signs of wear. The bathroom tiles were cracked, and there was mold near the shower. the noise from the bar downstairs went on until very late and made it hard to sleep.
